Mark Anscombe will succeed Shane Howarth as coach of the Auckland provincial rugby side.
Howarth inherited the role midway through the Air NZ Cup competition in a caretaker role but will now assist Pat Lam as coach of the Blues Super 14 side.
Anscombe's coached Northland for the past three years, this year guiding them to 10th place one ahead of Auckland.
He'll take up his new role on the first of December having signed a two year deal with Auckland.
