Liverpool are back on top of English football's Premier League after beating West Bromwich Albion 3-0.

Man of the match Robbie Keane scored the first two goals, on 34 and 43 minutes - his first for Liverpool putting the home side 2-0 clear at half time.

Alvaro Arbeloa scored the third goal just before the final whistle.

Liverpool had 10 shots on target to West Brom's two.

Down south, the French footballer Samir Nasri gave Arsenal fans hope for the season after he stung champions Manchester United with two goals as the Gunners deservedly won 2-1 in London, reigniting their Premier League title challenge.

United substitute Rafael scored their goal with a fine late volley to set up a tense finale but the Gunners held on for a crucial win after an average start to their season.

In other Premier League action, Everton won 3-1 at West Ham, Wigan Athletic drew at home with Stoke City 0-0, Bolton Wanderers won 1-0 at Hull City and Sunderland lost 2-1 to visitors Portsmouth through a late Jermain Defoe penalty.
