The New Zealand allrounder Chris Cairns has been suspended by the board of the rebel Indian Cricket League for the rest of the season.
The Chandigargh Lions say the South African Andrew Hall will take over from Cairns as captain.
The reasons for Cairns' suspension are an unclear but he's been sidelined along with teamate Dinesh Mongia, executive board member and former Indian wicketkeeper Kiran More telilng the Hindustan Times newspaper the pair had breached their contracts but he wouldn't enlarge on the comment.
Cairns apparently arrived for the current Twenty20 tournament carrying an ankle injury but didn't disclose his fitness status to the ICL.
