Australian netball captain doesn't like losing to cocky New Zealanders

Being cocky is not usually a trait attributed to New Zealand sports teams and when the allegation comes from an Australian it shows the team in question must really be getting under their skin.

But Australian netball captain Monia Gerrard says yesterday's loss to the Silver Ferns is made all the more painful because of the New Zealand side's cockiness.

After their 46-41 win over Australia, New Zealand can assume the mantle of world number one if they beat Australia again this weekend in Brisbane.

Gerrard says her side simply let their concentration slip after grabbing a nine goal lead in the first quarter only to see the Silver Ferns get back into the game and grab the lead early in the second half.
