The All Black first-five Dan Carter has joined the wider training group in Auckland ahead of today's trial match with a Barbarians side coached by the Blues' Pat Lam.
The wider training camp is for players who are in contention for the tour to Hong Kong, the UK and Ireland.
Carter's also on standby for Canterbury if they have any more injuries ahead of this weekend's Air New Zealand Cup final against Wellington.
Half-back Andy Ellis and centre Casey Laulala are both in doubt but Canterbury's captain Kieran Read says not knowing whether they'll be fit until Thursday isn't too much of a disruption.
