CAS may consider West Ham appeal over Tevez ruling

The Court of Arbitration for Sport says it might consider West Ham United's appeal against an FA compensation ruling in favour of their former Premier League rivals Sheffield United.

However the court says it would first have to decide if it has jurisdiction.

An FA arbitration panel told West Ham they would have to compensate Sheffield United for their relegation to the championship last year.

The ruling was based on West Ham's fielding of former striker Carlos Tevez, whom the panel deemed ineligible to play under league rules regarding third party ownership of players.
