Waikato comeback stuns Auckland

Waikato staged a great comeback over the closing holes to score a dramatic win against Auckland in the final of the New Zealand women's inter-provincial golf tournament in Nelson.

With four holes to play Auckland led but the match turned Waikato's way when their number four Kelly Nicholas won three holes in a row against her junior international rival Hayley Clinning.

That two and one win inspired Waikato's trailing players and number two Erin Hawe and number one Emily Perry both won their matches at the last green to give their team the win, three and a half to one and a half.

Auckland had made the final by beating Southland while Waikato won a tense semi-final against Northland, three and half to one and a half.
