The Hawkes Bay amateur golfer Daniel Pearce and seasoned professional Dominic Barson from Nelson share the lead heading into the second day of the Taranaki Open in New Plymouth.
Yesterday the pair shot six-under par 66 to secure a shot lead over local student Brad Hayward and Christchurch professional Andrew Searle.
Four players are tied for fifth place on two-under par 70 including 2006 national champion,Shandon's Andrew Green.
The leading female is New Zealand representative Caroline Bon from Whangarei who shot a three-over 75, two shot shots clear of Titirangi's Jane Lee and Waitangi's Phoebe Perrin.
The women will complete a 54 hole contest to enable them to travel to Nelson on Sunday in preparation for the Women's Interprovincials that start on Tuesday.
