The New Zealand middle distance runner Nick Willis has capped off a very good season with victory in the famous 5th Avenue Mile in New York.

Willis pipped American Bernard Legat in a photo finish in the race that starts at Central Park and runs down 5th avenue.

The Olympic 15 hundred metres bronze medalists says it's a great way to finish a remarkable season and he's finally managed to win something this year.

Willis also finished third in the recent IAAF Grand Prix finals in Germany.

He will now have a holiday before returning home to Lower Hutt to show off his Olympic medal.
