South Africa's cricket captain has apologised for his team's failure to provide fans with a full day's play in the second limited overs match which England won by 10 wickets, scoring the winning runs in just the 15th over at Trent Bridge.

Graeme Smith won the toss but South Africa made only 83 with Stuart Broad taking a career best five for 23 on his home ground.

Smith's side trail 2-0 in the five-match one day series.
