Newcastle are back into the top eight in the National Rugby League following a 32-12 away win over the Gold Coast Titans on Monday night.

The Knights have moved into the log-jam of five teams on 24 points after 20 rounds of competition.

The Canberra Raiders are the top of those teams and hold sixth place, while the Warriors with by far the worst points differential are the last.

The Gold Coast-Newcastle game saw the debut of Australian schoolboy star Jordan Rankin. The 16-year-old played almost 30 minutes for the Titans.
