The respected sports administrator Ramesh Patel is to leave Hockey New Zealand after 22 years at the helm.
Twenty of these years were as CEO and more recently as Hockey Director.
Patel says when he joined as Coach Development Manager in 1989, there were only 2 of them involved and 3 months later he took over as CEO.
Patel was a member of the New Zealand men's team that won the Olympic gold in Montreal in 1976.
He says while he'll miss being part of the day to day running of the sport, hockey will still be a big part of his life.
