Liverpool beat Rabotnicki

The English football club Liverpool have beaten the Macedonian side FC Rabotnicki 2-0 in Skopje in a Europa League first leg third round qualifying match.

The French striker David Ngog struck a goal in each half to give new Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson a winning start.

The Macedonians failed to trouble a second-string Liverpool team missing many of their World Cup players, including captain Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres, and many of the disappointed home fans left the stadium well before the final whistle.

The return leg is at Anfield next week.
