The New Zealand cyclist Cath Cheatley has finished second overall in the women's Cascade Classic in Oregon.
Cheatley finished the final circuit stage in second place, with the select breakaway of four riders unaware that Canadian Tara Whitten had gone clear on the final climb of the day.
Cheatley thought she had won the stage after edging out US champion Mara Abbott in the sprint finish, but had to settle for second on the day.
Abbott took out the overall honours with Cheatley second on general classification, a minute and 42 seconds behind the winner.
Rushlee Buchanan, also riding for the Colavita Baci team, finished in the peloton to take out the best young rider category in fifth place overall, five minutes and 57 seconds down.
