Pakistan captain to retire from Test cricket

5:50 am on 18 July 2010

The Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi will retire from Test cricket, following the second Test against Australia at Headingley in England next week.

Afridi made his announcement following Pakistan's 150-run defeat in the first match at Lord's, which was his first Test in four years.

The batsman says he no longer has the temperament for the five-day game, and hasn't been fully fit with a side strain.
