Black Sticks women lose again

The New Zealand women's hockey remains winless at the Champions Trophy tournament in Nottingham after going down 5-2 to Germany.

The Black Sticks started well but their inability to get shots on goal, despite some quality buildups, enabled Germany to lead 3-0 at half-time.

It was the same in the first 20 minutes of the second spell then Germany scored another two unanswered goals.

Katie Glynn and Samantha Harrison got goals in the last seven minutes, leaving the Black Sticks coach Mark Hager to lament their inconsistency.

Hager says the German players were more physical and pushed his team off the ball with some Black Sticks not prepared to put their bodies on the line.
