The Adelaide Thunderbirds are celebrating their first trans-tasman netball championship victory after winning the grand final last night, beating the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic 52-42 in Adealaide.
It was the second final defeat for the Magic, who fell behind Adelaide early and never got themselves back in the game with goal shoot Irene Van Dyk starved of possession by the Thunderbirds ruthless defence.
The Magic coach Noeline Taurua says the Thunderbirds were simply too good.
