The Springbok captain John Smit thinks his side were poor in Saturday night's 32-12 opening Tri-Nations loss to the All Blacks in Auckland.
Crunching defence kept the hosts' line intact at Eden Park as the Boks' winless streak there remains a long 73-year run.
The All Blacks ran in four tries to extract maximum points and get their Tri-Nations campaign off to the perfect start.
Smit admits the All Blacks were just too good on the night and his Boks have quite a few work-ons this week before the rematch next weekend in Wellington.
