Football powerhouses Argentina and Germany reignite their intense rivalry in tonight's World Cup quarter-final, with both sides boasting they will win.

The two country's met at the same stage in the 2006 World Cup with Germany winning 4-2 on penalties.

That shootout ended in a brawl when the South Americans reacted angrily after the save by German goalkeeper earned his side the win.

Their rivalry stretches back a long way, with the Argentines beating Germany in the 1986 final before losing to them in the 1990 decider.

Argentina's won all of its matches at the tournament having comfortably beaten Nigeria, Greece and South Korea and Mexico.

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez says Argentina was more afraid of Mexico than Germany, as they play better football.

Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger though is confident his young side can win, saying if they play like they did against England they'll win.
