First up wins for New Zealand rowers at Henley

Five New Zealand crews have scored wins on the opening day of the Royal Henley Rowing Regatta on the Thames near London.

In the head-to-head competition Mahe Drysdale and Duncan Grant both won their single sculls races and will meet each other in the next round, Drysdale happy to be competing again after 4 months away from competition with a back injury.

The men's pair of Eric Murray and Hamish Bond and the two double sculls crews of Storm Uru and Peter Taylor and Nathan Cohen and Joseph Sullivan also won their opening races.

Another 4 New Zealand crews are yet to start their competition.

The New Zealand team is using this event as preperation for next weekend's third World Cup regatta in Lucerne.
