Ioane avoids surgery, targets All Blacks test

The Australia winger Digby Ioane could be fit to return for the Wallabies' second Tri-Nations rugby test match against New Zealand after initially being ruled out for the entire campaign with a shoulder injury.

Ioane dislocated his left shoulder during the Wallabies' 21-20 loss to England in Sydney earlier this month but coach Robbie Deans says he's avoided the need for season-ending surgery.

Deans says Ioane could be available for the match in Melbourne on July 31 and he says the Wallabies may be bolstered by the return of halfback Will Genia for their Tri-Nations opener against South Africa in Brisbane on July 24,

Genia broke a bone in his hand in the same test against England.
