The North Shore swimmer Melissa Ingram has produced a strong performance to claim a silver medal on the first day of the final meet in the Mare Nostrum
series in France.
Ingram, 24, clocked a fast 2:10.07 to finish second to Britain's Elizabeth
Simmonds in the 200 metres backstroke in the European grand prix series.
The Wellington backstroker Gareth Kean finished third in the men's 200 metres backstroke final and Glen Snyders was second in the 50 metres breaststroke final.
The meet finishes tomorrow then the team goes to Narbonne for a two week training camp.
