The Queensland Rugby League chairman John McDonald says he's happy to debate whether rules should be introduced preventing Israel Folau from playing in the third State of Origin match.
But he says as far as Queensland officials are concerned, Folau's available for he entire season despite signing four year deal to play for the new AFL franchsie Greater Western Sydney from next year.
The Australian Rugby League chief executive, Geoff Carr, is considering asking his board to change rules, so as to forbid a player who's signed with another football code to play in league's showpiece series.
He's concerned Folau's appearance for Queensland in game three of the Origin series could be hijacked by the AFL, who could use it for a marketing campaign.
Carr's accused Queensland of putting self-interest ahead of the good of the game when it renegged on its initial comments that it wouldn't pick Folau for game two in Brisbane next week.
