The Socceroos are still smarting from their lucky win over the All Whites on Monday, and they're well aware their opening World Cup match against perennial contenders and three-time champions Germany will provide a much sterner test.
The Australians warm up with a game against Denmark next week and skipper Lucas Neill says the team's concentrating on getting a lot more passing going, with a lot more consistency in their possession than they showed against New Zealand.
Neill says the team wants to create a lot more chances than they managed in their scrappy 2-1 win against the 78-ranked All Whites, a performance that was slammed by coach Pim Verbeek.
Tough training ahead of the friendly may have contributed to the team's sluggish performance, says the captain, but the 20th-ranked Australians were also not quite sharp enough or fit enough.
He thinks that was probably a result of training really hard, and with two training sessions a day and getting used to the altitude, Neill's sure fans will see a lot more attractive football team on the field.
The Socceroos were the first team to arrive in South Africa and have based themselves at high altitude in Johannesburg, though their first World Cup game against Germany is in coastal city Durban.
Their other opponents are Ghana and Serbia, who the All Whites face in a friendly on Sunday.
