The former Roland Garros tennis champion, Justine Henin, returned to the clay-court grand-slam in style with a 6-4 6-3 win over the unseeded Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova.
Henin left the game for 20 months after completing a rare hat-trick of French Open titles in 2007.
Despite the break from Roland Garros, rhe 22nd seed showed glimpses of her past number-one form in her win, and Henin says she was happy with her performance.
