Socceroos game not so friendly

6:55 pm on 25 May 2010

The Australian football coach Pim Verbeek's admitted the Socceroos didn't deserve to win last night's so-called friendly with New Zealand, which has come at a cost for the All Whites.

Midfielder and vice-captain Tim Brown will miss tonight's flight to Europe... and his World Cup's in doubt, after he suffered a shoulder fracture in the ill-tempered match.

Brown's just arrived home from Melbourne and is likely to face immediate surgery.

Verbeek's disappointed with his players Vince Grella and Tim Cahill, whom he yanked at half-time in their 2-1 win to avoid any retribution.

And he's praised the All Whites for their professionalism.

The 1982 All White Sam Malcolmson thinks Verbeek's right about the Australians' lucky win and New Zealand's performance proves they can be competitive in South Africa.

Malcolmson reckons Australia have more problems than New Zealand.
