Cricket: Munro dominates Carribean Premier League

4:50 pm on 17 September 2018

The Black Caps all rounder Colin Munroe has guided the Trinbago Knight Riders' to back to back Carribean Premier League Twenty20 title.

Batting first after being put in, the Guyana Amazon Warriors mustered just 147 for nine with former Black Cap Luke Ronchi top scoring with 47.

The run chase didn't prove much of a challenge for the Knight Riders although the weather almost did.

They were well on track for victory at 65-1 when the skies opened.

When the showers cleared, Colin Munro went about securing victory with a minimum of fuss, scoring an unbeaten 68 off 39 balls.

They eventually reached the target with eight wickets in hand and two and half overs to spare.

It was Munro's sixth fifty of the tournament, ending it as its leading run-scorer with 567, 109 more than the previous best single-season tally.

Munro said coach Simon Katich has backed him "since day one,"

"When you've got the backing of a coach like that it makes it a hell of a lot easier."

Munro was named player of the tournament.
