After deciding to bat first Ireland made 136 with Leigh Kasperek taking three wickets for 25 runs from her four overs.

Captain Suzie Bates and debutant Jess Watkin raced to their target in 11 overs.

Wicket-keeper Bernadine Bezuidenhout claimed a women's T20 International record-equaling five dismissals in Ireland's innings.

Watkin belted three sixes and eleven fours in her 38 ball innings of 77, the highest score by a White Fern on T20I debut.

"Prett cool to bat with Suzie, that's always been something I've looked forward to, I was pretty nervous to face that first ball and then once I hit that I was set in and yeh it was pretty good batting out there," said the 20 year old.

Bates finished the game with a six to end on 63 not-out from just 29 deliveries.

The pair's 142-run partnership is the fifth highest in women's T20I history and a White Ferns record for any wicket.

The two sides now meet in three ODI's.
