National Rugby League chief executives have backed the penalties imposed on the Melbourne Storm for systematically breaching the NRL salary cap.
In a telephone conference, which did not include a Melbourne representative, all 15 endorsed
the actions of the NRL chief executive David Gallop. including the Storm continuing to play without accruing points.
Wayne Scurrah of the Warriors says if the Storm had been caught the end of the season they'd have lost all their points and can't be allowed to earn any.
And Manly's Graham Lowe, says the game needs the strength and unity the NRL's shown.
The chief executives say they have no problem with continuing to play the Storm as it'll mean all clubs playing the same opposition throughout the season.
And while Brisbane and Newcastle, say they have room within their current salary cap to buy players, they don't support the Storm being broken-up to try to bring them under the cap.
The Broncos' Bruno Cullen says that would disadvantage other teams with no room to move.
