Close but not close enough for the Canterbury Tactix as the New South Wales Swifts won a trans-Tasman netball nailbiter, 56-53 in overtime in Christchurch.
It was locked up 24-24 at half-time and 45-45 at the end of regular time before the Swifts showed why they're on top of the ladder to close it out by three points.
The Swifts now have a perfect three wins from three rounds, ahead of the Melbourne Vixens and two New Zealand sides, the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic and the Northern Mystics.
In the other Sunday game, the Adelaide Thunderbirds beat the Queensland Firebirds 41-40.
The Southern Steel host the winless Central Pulse tonight in Dunedin, while Melbourne travel to Perth to take on the West Coast Fever.
