All Blacks captain Kieran Read will update his immediate and longterm playing future at a media conference this morning.

Read, who is currently recovering from a broken thumb, is expected to sign on again with New Zealand Rugby until the 2019 World Cup.

The 31-year-old has been in charge since Richie McCaw stood down after the 2015 World Cup win.

Reid will also update his thumb injury, which he broke in South Africa at the end of April, and will hopefully be good enough to allow him to play against the British and Irish Lions next month.
