Australia retain Chappell Hadlee Trophy

12:52 pm on 12 March 2010

The Australian cricketers retained the Chappell Hadlee trophy with a game to spare when they cruised to victory in a rain-affected fourth game last night in Auckland.

The Black Caps batted first and for the scond straight match, they couldn't bat out their 50 overs, dismissed for 238 with nearly six overs left, and Australia achieved their rain-revised target of 200 runs off 34 overs with six wickets to spare.

Brendon McCullum was top scorer for the match with 61, but the man of the match was Cameron White who produced an unbeaten half century when Australia's run chase had looked a little vulnerable.

The fifth and final one day is in Wellington tomorrow.

Meanwhile the Australian vice captain Michael Clarke is expected to rejoin the team in a few days for the test series having returned to Sydney earlier this week to be with his troubled fiancee.
