6:12 am on 9 March 2010

The Australian cricket team's vice captain Michael Clarke was given permission last night to return home to Sydney for personal reasons, and it's not known when of if he'll return to the side.

No details were given although Clarke's fiancee, model Lara Bingle recently announced she's suing the AFL player Brendan Fevola over the ciculation of a nude photo taken without her consent.

Michael Clarke's father has also battled cancer in recent years.

The home captain Daniel Vettori says they'll make last minute decisions over the fitness of Ross Taylor and James Franklin for today's third one day international against Australia. They're both recovering from hamstring injuries.

A sell-out crowd is expected at Hamilton's Seddon Park today with fine conditions forecast for the match starting at midday.
