The great Welsh rugby fullback Williams has been banned for 17 months for drink-driving after a court heard how he tried to beat a breath test by placing copper coins in his mouth.
The 61-year-old Williams, a surgeon, had been chauffeur-driven to London to watch a game involving his old club London Welsh and when he was returned to Cardiff he got into his own red Audi before being stopped by police.
He was told to put his handbrake on because he appeared not to realise that his car was rolling backwards.
