The England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has urged fans to give John Terry "a good reception" during the international friendly against Egypt and lay-off booing the defender.
The match at Wembley on Thursday will be England's first the manager Fabio Capello stripped the Chelsea skipper Terry of the England captaincy in the fall-out from revelations of an alleged affair with the ex-girlfriend of former team-mate Wayne Bridge.
Terry has endured taunts from opposition fans, notably during last weekend's 4-2 loss to Manchester City, where Bridge refused to shake the central defender's hand before kick-off.
Rooney says Terry is still a leader, even if he hasn't got the captain's armband, and it would be good if he's not booed.
He says Bridge is also a fantastic player and it's a pity he's ruled himself out of international duty because he would be England's first-choice left back at the World Cup with Chelsea's Ashley Cole injured.
