A try on full-time to loose forward Pieter Louw wasn't enough to prevent the Brumbies from claiming a hard-fought 19-17 Super 14 rugby win over the Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday.
The teams were locked at 12-all going into the 77th minute, with Brumbies flyhalf Matt Giteau and Pietersen each kicking four penalties.
However Brumbies flanker George Smith pounced on a loose pass by Stormers prop Brock Harris just outside the 22 to score under the posts, giving them a decisive 19-12 advantage.
Stormers fullback Joe Pietersen was unable to kick the touchline conversion from Louw's injury time response, giving the visitors the win.
