Rally New Zealand's chairman says they're waiting for next month's FIA World Motorsport Council's decision on next year's programme before responding to their event's omission from a 14 round competition the WRC's new promoter is reported to be proposing.

But Chris Carr says if Autosport magazine's right it doesn't look good for Rally New Zealand, which is now alternating with Australia, so May's could be last WRC round held here .

Carr says over the years high quality images have been sent to a large motosport audience in many export and tourism markets.

He says that audience is in in the hundreds of millions but Rally New Zealand's been spectacularly unsuccesful in its efforts in getting that message through to successive governments .
