Snowboarder Torah Bright has won Australia's first Olympic gold medal after winning the women's halfpipe at the Winter Games in Vancouver.

The United States scooped up the silver and bronze medals in Hannah Teter and Kelly Clark.

New Zealand's Kendall Brown finished 15th overall in the event despite dislocating her shoulder just prior to the halfpipe semi-final.

New Zealand's other snowboarder's Rebecca Sinclair and Juliane Bray failed to make it past the qualifying stage and finished 21st and 24th respectively.
