The New Zealand women's cricket team has suffered its 5th straight loss to Australia, going down by 103 runs in their one day match in melbourne.

Play was reduced to 45 overs per side after a delayed start with Australia putting on 240 for eight after winning the toss and opting to bat and then dismissing the White Ferns for 137 in 34 overs.

All rounder Nicola Browne was the best of the White Ferns batsmen with 37 but the scorecard was dominated by the low scores.

The Rosebowl series now switches to Twenty20 mode with three matches at Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
