The Melbourne Victory have beaten Sydney 2-1 in the first leg of the A-League football major semi-final in Melbourne.
The return leg is in Sydney with the winner progressing to the Grand Final.
In the minor semi-finals Gold Coast host Newcastle tomorrow night and the Wellington Phoenix host Perth on Sunday with the winners of those matches progressing and the losers being eliminated.
