American speed skater Shani Davis has become the first man to win two Olympic 1000 metres titles, after following up his 2006 gold medal with another in Vancouver.
Davis, whose victory in 2006 made him the first black athlete to win an individual Winter Games medal, won with a time of one minute 8.94 seconds.
He shaved 18 hundredths off the target set by the 500 metre winner Mo Tae-bum of South Korea.
Mo finished scond, while American Chad Hedrick took the bronze.
