Lauaki back for Chiefs

11:41 am on 18 February 2010

Number eight Sione Lauaki returns to captain the Chiefs for the first time in a Super 14 rugby match when they take on the Lions in Johannesburg on Saturday morning.

Lauaki, who last week was ruled out of contention due to an abscess on his arm, is joined in the loose by Liam Messam at six, while rookie Luke Braid debuts on the openside.

Also set for their first starts are halfback Junior Poluleuligaga and lock Culum Retallick.

Coach Ian Foster had a fully fit squad to select from this week, and while it looks like rotation, he says that's not the case.

Second five-eighth Callum Bruce returns from injury to partner Richard Kahui in the centres.

The Chiefs beat the Sharks first up while the Lions lost to the Stormers.
