A mechanical problem with the ice resurfacing machine has delayed the Winter Olympic speed skating action for the second day in a row.
The battery-powered ice resurfacer broke down while preparing the ice for the second half of the opening heat of the men's 500 metre race at the Richmond Olympic Oval.
Organisers had similar problems yesterday during the women's 3,000 metres race, which was held up because one of the two ice resurfacing machines failed.
Organisers say the men's heats will continue, but the finals have been delayed by an hour.
