England needed an injury time goal to beat Wales 2-1 win and go top of their group at the European football championships in France.

A goal down to Wales at half-time after Gareth Bale scored from a 30-metre free kick, England manager Roy Hodgson brought on forwards Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy, which proved the turning point.

Vardy, England's Footballer of the Year in the Premier League with surprise champions Leicester, grabbed an equaliser in the 56th minute.

Then, with England piling on the pressure in the dying seconds, Liverpool's Sturridge scrambled his way through the box to score the winner from close range.
