The New Zealand women's hockey team has been beaten 3-2 by Australia in the opening match of their 3-test series in Perth.
The Black Sticks were 2-nil up after just 9 minutes after a double from Gemma Flynn and Australia didn't draw level until midway through the second half, while they scored the winner 10 minutes from time.
The second match is in perth tomorrow night.
