FA Cup holders Chelsea have cruised into the quarter-finals of the English football competition with a 4-1 home win in London over Championship side Cardiff City.

Didier Drogba scored after two minutes before Cardiff's Michael Chopra headed an equaliser on 34 minutes to give the 2008 runners-up some hope of an upset.

But Chelsea came out after the break to comfortably seal their passage to the sixth round with goals to Michael Ballack, Daniel Sturridge and Salomon Kalou.

Portsmouth also won by the same score at local rivals Southampton of the third division, while fellow Premier Leaguers Birmingham beat Championship side Derby 2-1.

Manchester City will have to replay their fixture with fellow Premier Leaguers Stoke City after drawing one-all at home.
