The Georgian luge competitor Nodar Kumaritashvili has been killed in a horrific training crash ahead of Vancouver's Winter Olympics, according to the Georgian Olympic delegation.
The Georgian delegation head Irakly Japaridze says the 21-year-old was thrown off the sled as it bounced over the rim of the track at the Whistler Sliding Centre at around 140 kilometres per hour and slammed into a pole by the side of the course.
