Phoenix high in confidence for play-offs

The Wellington Phoenix will go into next weekend's A-League football fixture high in confidence after securing a home play-off with Friday night's 3-0 win over Central Coast.

Despite it being the first time any New Zealand team has made the play-offs in any Australian football competition, the Phoenix aren't daunted by the history they made.

The Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert says the side will go into next Sunday's home play-off against Perth Glory with nothing to lose.

Herbert says they're confident and have some good experience in the squad, which they'll need as it's "uncharted waters" for the Phoenix.

But he says that's also exciting and expects a busy, productive week and it'll be difficult for the Glory to beat them at home next weekend.
