The former world champion kayaker Ben Fouhy returns to competition this weekend in Australia after an 18-month break from the sport.
Fouhy won a silver medal at the Athens Olympics and finished fourth in Beijing after which he stepped away from the sport, but he'll compete in a regatta in Penrith this weekend.
In the past year and a half he's competed in triathlons but resumed serious kayak training in November and intended competing at a regatta prior to Christmas but was forced to withdraw because of a shoulder injury.
Fouhy says his long term goal is the London Olympics in 2012 and he expects to achieve a top-three finish at the Penrith regatta.
