The New Zealand golfer Tim Wilkinson has finished tied for 20th in the PGA tour's Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles.

Wilkinson went into the final round tied for 12th and reached sixth at one stage, but three bogies on the back nine saw him drop off the pace and finish six under par for the tournament.

The result earns him almost $100,000.

American Steve Stricker won the event by two shots finishing at 16 under par, the win moving up to number two on the world rankings.
